Stone Orpheen DBank Finney 4 the Gayety Lew Fields in the musical comedy.l “Step This Way,” will be the attrac- tion at the Boyd for two nights next Friday and Saturday, with matinee Saturday. This piece is a new version of “The Girl Behind the Counter,” in \hich Mr. Field made the hit of his career as a comedian in the role of Henry Schniff. With the lapse of ears the actor's art has mellowed, as it were, and his impersonation of the hen-pecked Henry is a model of his- trionic effort. Notwithstanding _the fact that “Ste This Way” is an Eng- lish importation, it bears all of the trademarks of its American adapter, Edgar Smith, and as a result it is one of the jolliest, most up-to-date 'and breeziest of musical comedies on the boards, Lew Fields has surrounded himself with a specially engaged com- pany in which will be found such en- E‘L[ personalities as Alice Fischer, ~ Marguerite Farrel, Gladys Clark, flems erfimm, Elizabeth Wood, Sam Dody, Edward Bassi and a score “of lesser h!lm. The chorus will re- mind one of the celebrated Weber and Fields beauties. An added feature in “Step This Way" is the pony ballet, an lmpo;;ed ogtek of d.'“l'" l:movlln as the teppers.” In the role of l}elry lfllmm firw Fields makes merry in the two acts of the comedy, the first of which transpires in a hu{e department store in London, and the last in “Jardin de Paris” in Hammer- smith. Naturally the soda water foun- tain scene, the episode with the si waiters and the supper scene in the last act are among the high spots of the star's performance. With the ex- ception of the ensembles, an entirely new musical score was written for “Step This Way.” -l VRS * “Ma'mzelle Caprice,” a one-act opera bouffe, presented by Amelia Stone and Armand Kalisz, will be the stellar feature of the bill selected as ::e gul:.l Ak-Sar-Ben mmlimt e eum, starting matinee ts ) Miss rglonc and Mr. Kalisz were starred since last seen at the Orgheum four years in Adolph Phillip’s musical comedy, “Two in Company.” Another special feature act! will be George Howell, cleverly mprorted in 2 one-act episode of society life, “The Red Fox Trot,” written by Agnes Scott, author of “Drifting,” “The Wall Between” and other plays. Claudis Albright and Mario Rodolfis offer a well chosen program of opera selec- tions and high-class ballads, “Putting 1t Over” is the name of the skit to be contributed by Chester Spencer and | Lola Williams. They sing, dance and talk. Composers of many popular songs, Jim and Betty Morgan have brilliantly’ established themselves in vaudeville. In her reproductions of classic statues, Miss Robbie Gordone gvu .nine poses, shifting rapidly H one to another. Some of her well chosen subjects are “Spring” and “The French Clock.” Ten minutes of hilarity and astounding bumps are de- livered by Martinetti and_Sylvester, THE OMAHA SUNDAY Admelia self of all wrongdoing in the eyes of her husband makes an climax.
