Publications all over the country have been writing and telegraphing Baer for cartoons. Cartoons by a congress- man do not grow on every tree and Baer’s work is in universal de- mand by editors. But the farmers’ congressman sent his first cartoon work since he was elected to the Leader. - : : The Leader is glad to announce that it will continue to print Baer’s " cartoons—perhaps one or more every week. The new congressman is - going to be pretty busy at his new work at Washington, but he has promised not to stop drawing cartoons for the farmers, The above cartoon is Baer’s impression of one of the results of the special election that put him in congress. The election result has again, but only temporarily, silenced the opposition. Again the farmer has drowned the pesky cat. AT V/"‘S But it is a many-lived cat, and it will likely come back again the next time the farmers enter a political campaign. : ‘Watch for Baer’s cartoons in the Leader. As soon as he gets settled in Washington they will be a regular feature. The Leader also will have a news bureau established in Washington before long, to keep readers posted on national events and tell what Baer is doing.
