DIAL 2.5051 One of the things we like about Key West is the way folks pitch in and help each other out when trouble looms----not just at Christ- mas time but the year ‘round. Witness the fine response when the Citizen prints a story about someone in need after a fire, some other disaster or the March of Dimes Campaign. And Key West seems to have blossomed forth with an abundance of the Yuletide spirit what with all the street decorations, and the music issuing from the carillons of the city’s churches. But what makes the season more worthwhile is the fact that behind the facade of commercialism and tinsel is that this is the time of year that seems to encourage simple acts of human kindness that make you feel good when you hear of them. While the city is gaily decorated with colored lights and the Duval Street is swarming with excited swarms of Christmas shoppers, life in the Old Folks Home on Stock Island can be pretty grim at times. The Young People’s Service League of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church took it upon themselves to remedy this situation however, and last Thursday they commandeered Ray “The Sweetest Man in Town” Navarro’s Sightseeing bus and took the old folks for a tour of the Is- land so that they could see the Christmas decorations and share in the excitement of the Yuletide season. They took the old folks from one end of the Island to the other in- cluding the Jaycee Christmas tree in Bayview Park and the decora- tions on Duval Street.
