By the Associated Press., HUNTSVILLE, Tex., October 4.— Two desperado convicts, pals of the late Raymond Hamilton and cigar- smoking gunwoman, Bonnie Parker, were dead today, and a third convict was near death, victims of two quick- ! shooting guards at Eastham State Prison. The dead men, shot yesterday as| they led an attempted mass break by the 27 inmates of the prison’s spe- cial wing for incorrigibles, were Roy Thornton, Bonnie Parker's husband, and Austin Avers, sentenced for a part in the death house escape of Hamilton, Southwest bandit. Thorn- ton was serving 50 years for burglary. Forrest Gibson, serving a sentence for slaying a guard at Petrieve Prison Farm in a break there last June, was &hot three times and was not expected to live. A, Federal Art Project today granted 17 paintings to North High School, Omaha, Nebr. Ruth R. Tompsett, art chairman of the Omaha school, selected them at the conclusion of a sketching trip she took through New England. The paintings will be shipped shortly and placed on permanent exhibition, the W. P. A. said.
