REAL ESTATE BAY RIGE SALES DOUBLE OVER % 18 Deals, Totaling $40,000, Completed, Operator Reports. Bay Ridge, long one of Maryland's most popular resorts, has been going through something of a boom period this Summer, according to William H. Lanham, real estate operator, who reports having recently completed 18 transactions aggregating more than $40,000. This is double the business done for the same period last year. The majority of the sales were bay front lots on which the new owners | contemplate building their homes for occupancy next season. In May, 1922, Lanham took on the exclusive sale of the Bay Ridge prop- erty which was owned by the Bay Ridge Realty Corp., and on May 11 sold the first lot to Hugh P. Bald- win of Washington, who built his Summer home there the following year. It is very interesting that Bald- win should have purchased the first home site at Bay Ridge as he had retired from the passenger service of the B. & O. Ra ad and in this service he had spent a great deal of time at Bay Ridge taking care of the | excursion crowds carried to Bay Ridge in the old days over the B. & O. Lanham has continued his opera- tions at Bay Ridge since and in the 15 years has made over 500 sales and has seen nearly 160 beautiful homes built at Bay Ridge, a great number of these homes being for all-year oc- cupancy. Quite a number of new homes have been completed this sea- | son. Others are under construction and plans are now being prepared for | 10 new homes to be built and ready | for occupancy next season. Not since | 1929 has there been such activity in sales and building at Bay Ridge. Lan- ham believes this is not due alone to | the popularity and beauty of Bay THE EVENING STAR, WASHINGTON, D: C.
