RS. FRANKLIN DELANO ROOSEVELT was an honor guest and speaker last evening at the dinner given by the Wom- en's Division of the Democratic State Committee at Syra- cuse, N. Y. The dinner was a highlight of a two days’ conference of women democrats. More than 800 attended the conference among them the Postmaster General Mr. James A. Farley, Repre- sentative Caroline O'Day and Assistant Secretary of the Treasury, Miss Josephine Roche. Mrs. Roosevelt will return to the White House tomorrow to spend a few days before going to North Carolina to visit a home- | stead project. The Secretary of State Mr. Cordell Hull, is spending today at the University of Pennsylvania where he will receive an honorary degree. The Royal Italian Ambassador and Donna Matilde de Suvich were hosts at luncheon yesterday in honor of the German Am- bassador and Frau Dieckof!. The United States Ambassador to Hungary, Mr. John Flournoy Montgomery, who is in the United States on a sixty-day leave, is staying at the Carlton Hotel while in Washington. He arrived in New York City from Budapest on Monday. Senator and Mrs. Claude Pepper returned to their apartment at the Wardman Park Hotel yesterday. Senator Pepper joined Mrs. Pepper in St. Petersburg, Fla., for the week end, where they attended the double wedding of Mrs. Pepper’s brother and sister. Representative and Mrs. Jesse B. Wolcott of Michigan have been joined by their niece, Miss Fanchone Aldrich, who attended |the festivities at West Point last week. Miss Aldrich will graduate from Woodrow Wilson High School this month. She will return to West Point this week end for the additional festivitives. Representative John Taber of Auburn, N. Y., is at the Wardman Park Hotel at the present time. Representative and Mrs. Harold D.
