This compared with $365,721, or 57 cents a share, in March quarter last year. General Cable Co. and Anaconda Wire & Cable Co., however, main- tained prices at the previous levels. Higher production costs, principally wages, were given as the reason for the increase. This contrasted with a percentage gain of 3.4 in a similar comparison a | week earlier. Volume at New York City of $3,314,« 700,000 virtually was unchanged, come pared with the $3,331,140,000 in the previous period, but advanced 2.0 per cent over the $3,251,027,000 in 1936.
