B—10 PEOPLE'S COUNSEL APPOINTEE URGED Georgetown Citizens Call for Immediate Filling of Roberts’ Post. Approval of the continuance of the office of people’s counsel after the re- tirement of William A. Roberts No- vember 1 was expressed last night by the Georgetown Citizens’ Association meeting at St. John's Church Parish Hall. Joseph I. Cavanaugh warned that District citizens would be without needed protection in public utility matters should the office be abolished. The resolution called for another ap- pointment immediately upon Roberts’ Tetirement. Answering charges of “deplorable” conditions at the Corcoran School, B. W. Draper doclared he recently in- spected the school with a member of Georgetown Business Men's Associa- tion and found many improvements have been made. There is need for more modern and sanitary plumbing, however, he declared. The association voted to appoint a special committee to consider traffic problems until a permanent commit- tee can be organized. B D. Hulin, George W. Ash and John H. Hanna, jr, were admitted to membership. John H. Small pre- sided. cosnstag o e CITY NEWS IN BRIEF. TODAY.
