WANDERING SHIP UGEAN’S PRIS[)NER in South America After Strange Incidents. By the Associsted Press. - BUENOS AIRES, October 1—1‘he Ru-:nun and crew of the Spanish | tar iner prisoners of the ocean today. Argentine authorities, suspecting the ship's captain was prisoner of & So- wietized crew, held it under guard of two cruisers outside the harbor after 4t had been turned away from Santos, Brazil, and Montevidio, Uruguay. Agents for the owner, the Ibarra Co. of Seville, Spain, made no effort to rescue their ship. Offices in all three parts declared it had not been sent on this voyage and disclaimed any zesponsibility for the passengers, crew or fees. Argentine warships trailed the Cape | L= San Antonio after it left the coast off Montevideo yesterday, where it had been detained. When Uruguayan port authorities boarded the ship outside Montevideo they found it apparently under the command of a steward and & seaman. The master, Capt. Jose Lanz, did mot appear until the port authorities demanded to speak to him, and then the steward and sailor continued to participate in the conversations, an- swering questions addressed to him. The result was the ship was forbid- den to disembark passengers or un- Joad mail. Authorities reported the passengers appeared overjoyed at the prospect of leaving the ship on the Uruguayan tug and were mournful, although si- Jent, when the Cape San Antonio’s erew barred it. ‘The officials said, however, the situ- ation aboard ship appeared orderly and its documents seemed to be in order. — GARDEN CLUB TO HOLD DAHLIA SHOW SATURDAY Becretary Ickes Patron of Wood- ridge Show at John Bure roughs School. ‘The regional dahlia show of the Woodridge Garden Club will be held Saturday and Sunday at the John Burroughs School, Eigliteenth’ and SPA NIS—H SCHOOL OF WASHINGTON Prof. from Spain.
