Srecial Dispatch to The Star. MARTINSBURG, W. Va. Septem- ber 22.—Former Mayor Cleveland M. Seibert, 55, died yesterday at his home here. Death followed a third stroke of paralysis suffered Sunday. Mr. Seibert, an attorney, also was a former member of the West Virginia House of Delegates from this county. He was long conspicuous in legal and | community affairs in Berkeley County | and Eastern West Virginia and active in Democratic political affairs in the State. He was a native of Berkeley County, | educated in private schools and also at a military institute formerly oper- He was elected to the House of Delegates in 1908 and | re-elected in 1910 and 1912. In 1911, | while the youngest member of the | House in point of age, he was elected House floor leader for the Democratic party. He served as mayor of Martinsburg from 1901 to 1903, during which the first sewering and paving work in the | city was undertaken, and also filled out a term as Mayor about 1920, dur- | ing which further street and sewering iv\nrk was done on a comprehensive scale. Benson, jr., of Cockeys- ville was killed instantly today in a | head-on collision between his auto- | mobile and a coal truck in a thick fog on the Jarrettsville pike. The impact ripped away the entire left side of the physician's car. Dr. Benson, who was 52, had been out was returning home at the time. Police held Henry M. Johnson, col- | ored, Baltimore, who was driving the truck, for action of the coroner. Patrolmen G. R. Bull and Roland Johnson said Dr. Benson was driv- | ing north and was going up a steep, | curving hill. BRADLEY RITES THURSDAY Funeral of President of Mt. St. Mary’s College to Be at Emmitsburg. Funeral services for Right Rev. Bernard James Bradley, president of Mount St. Mary's College, Emmits- burg, Md, who died yesterday in Providence Hospital, will be held at the college at 10 am. Thursday. Burial will be in the college cemetery. Msgr. Bradley, 69, had been presi- dent of Mount St. Mary's for nearly 26 years. His death followed an ill- ness of only a few days. He was stricken with pleurisy Saturday short- ly after attending the funeral of Rev. Carl M. Rauth at Hagerstown, Md. His condition became yapidly worse, and yesterday he was rushed to Provi- dence. Pneumonia was the cause of death. Msgr. Bradley had seen the enroll- ment at the college double under his administration and many additions and improvements to the college plant made. He was an alumnus of the college and returned in 1894, a short time | after his ordination, to teach. He was professor of logic and liturgy. In 1897 he was made treasurer of the college. He held this position until 1915 and again from 1921 until 1933. He became vice president in 1901 and president in 1911, his services as treas- urer, vice president and president over- lapping. As president he succeeded Msgr. Denis J. Flynn, who had been in poor health and resigned. Msgr. Bradley's elevation to the position by the college council was announced at the 103d commencement exercises. Msgr. Bradley was born at East Braintree, Mass., the son of the late James and Mary Allen Bradley. He was ordained to the priesthood by the i Brooklyn Diocese in 1892, shortly be- fore he was called back to his alma mater to be a professor. ‘The late Cardinal Gibbons invested him as a monsignor at & solemn high | mass in the college chapel in April, 1914.
