American Gas & Electric lost more than a point and Electric Bond & Share dropped mearly a point. Wayne Pump went ahead a point or so. Cocoa Prices Sag In Heavy Trading After Sharp Ri BY the Associated Press. NEW YORK, September 15.—Trad- ers in the recently booming cocoa fu- tures market jumped to take profits today and prices shortly after the start slid off .32 to .37 of a cent a “pound from Monday's record heights. Trading was reported to have been the heaviest in the history of the exchange in the first hour, with 440 lots, totaling 6,600 tons, of cocoa changing hands in the first 50 min- utes of dealings. The selling was said to have been touched off when the local market learned that earlier prices in London had failed to follow Monday's swift rise here. A long upward move in both centers was thought by some experts to have brought the markets ,into an “overbought” position. After the initial break prices climbed back a bit and the pace slackened. RICHMOND, Va., September 15.— J. H. Meek, director of the division of markets, said a larger percentage of sweet potatoes inspected in Virginia this year are meeting the require- ments for the United States grade 1 than ever before. The State inspections, he said, showed that the crop this season is generally superior in quality. The volume officially inspected will “many times exceed the volume officially in- spected in previous years,” Mr. Meek estimated. Although the national production of sweet potatoes is estimated as lower than last year, the Virginia crop is expected to considerably exceed the 1935 Virginia production. e SHAW TO BE PARTNER OF FENNER & BEANE Erecia]l Dispatch to The Star.
