FARLEY LISTS 18 STATES CERTAIN Names Pennsylvania, Ohio and California After Personal Poll. By the Associated Press. NEW YORK, November 29.—Demo- eratic hopes of victory in the 1936 presidential election were bolstered to- day by a claim of Postmaster General James A. Farley that 18 States al- ready are definitely in President Roosevelt's column. Farley, chairman of the Democratic National Committee, expressed his views after a swing around the country which he described as “a quest for trouble.” Lists Pennsylvania. ‘The 18 States he named as certain to go for Roosevelt are: Pennsylvania, ~Ohlo, California, Delaware, Virginia, Maryland, Ken- tucky, Tennessee, Illinois; Iowa, Ne- braska, Utah, Nevada, Oregon, Idaho, ‘Wyoming, Colorado and Indiana. These were, the States through Wwhich he traveled and in which, he said: “I talked with the people best qualified to tell what was going on.” ‘Then he scoffed: ‘So much for the industriously circulated report that the President is ‘slipping,’ so current in the newspapers hostile to the ad- ministration.”™ Admits Millions Irked. “I daresay that there are millions of voters who find fault with this or that detail of the emergency pro- gram, but who will nevertheless vote for the President, because they are more in sympathy with his aims and ideas than with those c{ some yet un- named Republican,” he said. Farley asserted he had asked many Republicans who they believed would get the Republican nomination. “Many of them told me who in their opinion should not be nom- inated,” he said, “and the list em- braced pretty nearly every aspirant for the honor so. far disclosed.” —_— WORKERS AT LIBRARY Four Sent by P.
