B8 WADSWORTH SEES CRASH OF COURT Republican Says New Deal . May Smash Tribunal and Constitution. By the Associated Press. NEW YORK, November 29.—Rep- pesentative Wadsworth, Republican, of w York said last night “one cannot p suspecting” that the adminis- tration “intends to deluge the Su- preme Court with a flood of cases, #nd thus pile up against the court and Constitution itself an aggregation grievances and resentments suffi- clent to break down both.” In a broadcast sponsored by the National Republican Congressional Committee, Wadsworth, speaking on *“Undermining Our Form of Govern- ment,” said President Roosevelt’s ar- rival at the White House was “skill- fullly and attractively staged, and hence welcome.” “An impressive gesture of economy,” he said, “was indulged in at the very beginning of the congressional ses- | sion. Within a few weeks, however, | the famous economy act was utterly | forgotten, and shortly after its enact- ment there commenced an orgy of spending such as the country has never known in time of peace.” Asserting the New Deal involves “a vast expansion of the power of the President and a corresponding sup- pression of the power of Congress,” the speaker said: “Only a dictatorship heading up to a single individual can begin to wield such powers. Therefore we have seen the Congress presuming to turn over to the President large elements of | the law-making power, and doing so | upon his demand and upon the de- mand of the bureaucracy established | under him.” Wadsworth condemned the cotton, tobacco and potato control laws and | the Wagner labor disputes act.
