NEW YORK, November 29.—In- creased political tension in Europe was an adverse influence in the foreign sector of the bond market today, but domestic issues continued to point toward higher levels under a fairly active trading volume. Italian Government 7s, under pres- gure from the opening, yielded 3'% points in the first hour. At 53! the loan was only about 3 points above its extreme low for the year. German, Australian and Japanese obligations were traded at fractionally lower lev- els. Argentine issues also lost ground, but Brazilians rallied sharply on the reported epding of political disorders. Low-priced rails and the general run of secondary utilities were in mod- erately good demand -at improved prices. LONDON, November 29.—Following labor's decisive victory in New Zea- land’s general election, the Dominion government bonds are fluctuating widely on the London Stock Exchange. Despite a declaration yesterday by Michael J. Savage, prime minister- elect, that his government would not embark on any financial experiments, New Zealand bonds were down today from 1 to 3 points. In Wellington they are reported to have held firm. New Zealand bank shares also re- flected a certain amount of uneasiness in London, although there was little actual selling of either government bonds or bank shares. —_— U. S. BOND HOLDINGS OF BANKS STILL RISE By the Associated Press. Further gains have been recorded in holdings of direct United States Gov- ernment securities by member banks of the Federal Reserve system in lead- ing cities. Recent increases have been attributed chiefly to subscriptions to larger Treasury bill offerings.
