By the Associated Press. BALTIMORE, November 19.—Albert General Tone Mixed in Late Trading. By the Assooiated Press. NEW YORK, November 19.—Im- provement in a number of specialties featured the Curb market trading to- day. The general tone of the list was a little irregular, but gains were more numerous than declines. Some of the issues which advanced around 1 to 2 point or a little more included Colts Firearms, Aluminum Co. of America, Blumenthal, Draper, Acme Wire certificates, Empire Power, Pan-American Airways and Heyden Chemical. A number of the customary leaders made but small progress, or receded moderately from the previous closing levels. Among them were American Gas, Electric Bond & Share, Gulf Oil, International Petroleum, Lake Shore Mines, Parker Rust Proof and Sher- win Williams. BONDS ON THE CURB MARKET. DOMESTIC BONDS. High. There was a slight rise in the gen- eral level of wholesale commodity prices in the week er.ded November 16, according to the index of the Na- tional Fertilizer Association. This index for the week stood at %179.5 per cent of the 1926-8 average, compared with 794 the preceding week, 79.6 a month ago and 758 a year ago. The index last week was 425 per cent above the depression low point, reached in the week of March 4, 1933, and was 3.5 per cent above the low point of 1935. Of the 14 component groups of the index 4 moved upward last week and 6 declired. The rise in cotton to the 12-cent lével was largely responsible index, marking the tenth consecutive weekly advance and raising it to the highest level reached since September, 1934. A more than seasonal decline in the supply of butter resulted in a sharp price rise, which was mainly re- sponsible for a substantial upturn in the fats and oils index. There was a further decline in the price of lard during the week. The average price of gasoline was slightly higher last week, resulting in & rise in the fuels index. Grain prices were mixed, while the trend of feedstuffs was downward. There was a drop in cattle quotations, but prices for hogs, sheep and lambs were higher. The result of these mixed trends was a small decline in the grains, steel scrap and tin were somewhat higher, but the . changes were not sufficiently large to affect the metals index. Special Dispatch to The Star. NEW YORK, November 19.—Long- haul intercity bus companies have reached an all-time high in operations and net income, according to reports for the first nine months of 1935 to be published in the November issue of Bus Transportation. An analysis by that publication of the operations of more than 16,000 busses covering & half-billion bus miles and doing & gross business of $116,- 000,000 in the period covered indi- cate that traffic volume became ex- ceptionally good in the third quarter. Net income in the third quarter in the face of increasing taxes and prices was the highest for any quarter in the five years that the magazine has been compiling quarterly statistics of operating conditions. Passenger revenues per bus mile also are higher and are nearly 3 per cent ahead of those in the previous year. with the third quarter showing 27.88 cents, as compared with 26.95 cents in the 1934 quarter. Passenger revenue per mile of route for the nine-month period rose to $580, compared with $521 in 1934, a gain of 11.32 per cent, while each bus owned took in $12,103, or $1,431 more than in 1934. The length of haul per passenger on intercity routes, accord- ing to the survey, is increasing steadily. Local operations, both in cities and in suburban areas, likewise indicate a gain over last year for the nine- month period, notwithstanding that the third quarter is the lowest traffic period for these two classes of car- riers. City operations show a gain of 52 per cent in net income per bus, | while operations of 2,000 busses of suburban carriers show a net income gain of $132 for each bus owned. e U. S. TREASURY NOTES.
