Cotton consumed during October was reported today by the Census Bureau to have totaled 552,187 bales of lint and 67,106 of linters, com- pared with 449,126 and 61.127 during September this year and 523,032 and 66.612 during- October last year Cotton on hand October 31 was reported held as follows: In consuming establishments, 1,074,- 405 bales of lint and 149,262 of linters, compared with 716,807 and 144,117 on September 30 this year. and 1,140,493 and 201274 on October 31 last year. In public storage and at compresses, 8481901 bales of lint and 42,719 of linters, compared with 7,148,651 and 28668 on September 30 this year and 9,380,804 and 39,682 on October 31 last year. October imports totaled 7,965 bales, compared with 6374 in September this year and 11,911 in October last year. October exports totaled 711,664 bales of lint and 23,771 of linters, compared with 486,784 and 14,579 in September this year, and 615,593 and 19,231 in October last year. Cotton spindles active during Oc- tober numbered 23,192,602, compared with 22,683,818 during Scptcmhor this year, and 25.103,88¢ during October last year. Cotten consumed during October in cotton-growing States totaled 459.176 bales, compared with 37 September this year and 412,302 dur- ing October last year. 125 TONS OF LEAD SOLD. NEW YORK, November 14 (#).— The St. Joseph Lead Co. reports that 125 tons of pig lead from Southeast Missouri mines were sold yesterday at $4.35 per 100 pounds St. Louis. November 14.—The Curb market was the center of a | bullish demonstration today as traders i became aggressive on the buying side in response to the marked strength of the big board. Favorites in the early trading in- cluded Aluminum Co. of America, Parker Rust Proof, Hayden Chemi- cal, Krueger Brewing, Mead Johnson, Pan-American Airways, Pittsburgh Plate Glass, Sherwin-Williams and Standard Oil of Ohio, which pushed up 1 to 2': points. There were fairly even advances of fractional range in such groups as utilities, oils and alcohols, Some of the inactive industrial specialties soared up 2 to 4 points.
