Just what is happening to the housing program in general, what the _ Government plans to do at Berwyn Heights, the work o. the Public Works Administration, District Alley Dwell-- ing Authority and other Government agencies will be discussed during the meeting, which will start at 10 a.m. Addresses will be made by Henry H. Dearing, District director of F. H. A.; Robert B. Mitchell, housing divi- sion of P. W. A.; John Ihider, direc- tor of the Alley Dwelling Authority, and Miss Harlean James, of the Amer- ican Civic Association. A discussion period will follow each address. The morning session will be followed by a luncheon, during which the following will epeak: Miss Mary Alice Hill, of Public Assistance; Mrs. Helen Dewy Hoffman, of the Home Owners' Loan Corporation, and Clar- ence Phelps Dodge, of the Washington Committe on Housing. During the afternoon a fleld trip will be made in busses to some of the city’s alley dwellings, the site of the low-cost housing project in South- west Washington and the Colonial Vil- lage, low-cost apartments sponsor by the F. H. A, Clubs participating in the confer- ence are as follows: Capitol Hill History Club, Housekeepers Alliance, Marietta Park Women's Club, Parent- ‘Teacher Association, Park View Wom- en’z Club,Political Study Club, Sun- shine and Community Society, Takoma Park Women's Club, Women's City Club, Department of Public Welfare, Citizens’ Association, Federation of Women's Clubs, League of Women Voters, American Association of Uni- versity Women, Women’s Democratic Club, Junior League, Women’s Na- tional Democratic Council, Zonta Club, Sodality Union, Ladies of Charity; Council of Jewish Women, Soroptmist Club, Cleveland Park Club, Colonial Dames and Petworth ‘Women'’s Club. MAURY & MOHLER MOVES NEXT WEEK Real Estate Firm Will Take New Quarters, Making Way for Federal Agency. The real estate firm of Maury Mohler will move its offices next week to 1223 Connecticut avenue, to make way for s government bureau which 15 taking over 1624 I street, where the | firm has been located for more than a year. The firm, composed of John F. Maury and J. Rupert Mohler, jr., en- gages in a general real estate broker- age business, though it also handles loans, insurance and some rentals. National home shows will be held in scores of principal cities through- out the country during the coming year. They are being sponsored by the Manufacturers’ Housing Display The fundamental principle of the Na- tional Home Show is to educate the public in the opportunities to be de- rived from utilizing the provisions of the national housing act. It is expected that the Baltimore show will set the pace for the Nation. During 1936 hundreds of American cities will be the scene of similar edu- cational events and from present in- dications communities will vie with one another in making the shows out- standing events. Many Requests for Shows. Since formation of the Manufac- turers’ Housing Display Council the council and the Federal Housing Ad- ministration have had many inquiries and requests for such shows by mu- nicipal officials, presidents of real es- tate boards and officials of other or- ganizations. The Baltimore show will be held in the 5th Regiment Armory and is scheduled to be the most elaborate housing show ever held in the Na- tion. The Federal Housing Adminis- tration is furnishing ultra-modern educational and display equipment for the show. An outstanding innova- tion will be “talking towers,” elece trically operated, which are equipped with broadcasting apparatus to fur- nish visitors with information con- cerning the “single mortgage sys- tem” and the modernization credit plan of the Federal Housing Adminis- tration.
