According to an analysis of bank deposits in Capital banks, completed today by Audley A. P, Savage, auditor of the National Savings & Trust Co.. the exact increase was $23,613,787.19 during this period. The November 1 total was the largest on record, &s stated on the day of the call. Every bank in Washington had a gain in deposits between the two call dates. So far as could be learned today by a study of former records, it is the first time every bank in the list has shown an increase in de- posits between one call date and an- other, Usually, for one reason or an- other, there are some decreases brought out by the comparisons. Previous Peak in 1931 The analysis by Auditor Savage brings attention to the fact that de- posits in this city were especially high last March, when the total stood at $275,226,551.85. But up to November 1 the previous all-time record had been the $281977,925.94 reported on March 25, 1931, long before the bank holiday. Deposits were also very high in June, 1931, when the $278,000,000 mark was passed. On March 25, 1931, there were 39 banks and trust companies operating in the District, while the new peak just reported was reached by only 22 banks, or a reduction of 17 banks in the number now carrying on 100 per cent operations. The fact that every bank made a gain on the November call shows that each group also went ahead. The na- tional banks led the gains with a pick- up of $14,695406.95. Riggs reported the largest gain, over $8,000,000, with the National Metropolitan second and the Hamilton third, !1% . ll!% 1394 + 131% 131% 13% Munsingwear Inc... 4% Murray Corp . 30 Myers (FE) & B (3) 11 Nash Motors (1) ___ 14 Nashv Chat&St L. 4% Nat AcmeCo . . 22% Nat Biscuit (1.
