Last October Secretary Morgenthau decreed that, beginning January 1, 1935, bottles containing distilled spirits must bear blown-in inscriptions, showing the manufacturer’s permit number, the year of manufacture and a symbol representing the name of the distillers’ rectifier, importer or wholesale dealer. He also said the bottles must have a blown-in inserip- tion, warning that reuse is unlawful. Officials reported a gradual decrease in bottle violations since Morgenthau's order.
