LA BELLE, Fla., September 30.—A eoroner’s jury yesterday held unavoid- able a double accident in which an At- 1antfé Coast Line train and two auto- mobiles figured Saturday night, killing three persons and injuring 13 others. The train, which was made up of passenger and freight cars, stopped at Goodno to allow several men to get off. A freight car blocked the highway. An sutomobile with eight passengers, all young people, crashed into the freight car and burst into flames. As trainmen and passengers worked to assist the victims, another automo- bile crashed into the freight car from the other side. It's eight passengers were injured. _— JAIL GATES CLOSE ON THE “LUCKIEST MAN” Bubway Train Screams to Stop Inches Away as He Slept on Tracks After Drinks. By the Associated Press. NEW YORK, September 30—Jail gates, instead of pearly gates, closed behind Carlos Hernandez yesterday, and there were few to disagree with Magistrate Richard Kiniry's opinion that Hernandez “was the luckiest man I know. He's alive.” Hernandez, 29, was arrested after & subway train screamed to an emergency stop in Columbus Circle Station inches from his recumbent form, stretched comfortably across the tracks. He was sound asleep. 1n court, he said he didn't remem- ber anything, had had a couple of drinks and the two-day jail sentence was all right with him, because he could catch up on his sleep. ——— PROJECTS TO START Riverdale P.-T.
