GROUP INDORSES SAFETY CAMPAIGN East Washington Heights | Citizens’ Association Elects Officers. The driving pledge sponsored by the Safety Council of The Evening Star was indorsed last night by the East Washington Heights Citizens’ Association, meeting in the Bradbury Heights M. E. Church. Pledge cards for distribution to members will be | supplied by The Star. Charles H. Baumbach, incumbent treasurer, was elected without opposi- tion to succeed O. E. Robbins as presi- dent of the association. Robbins de- clined a second term, but was elected treasurer. Other officers chosen were C. A. Jones, vice president, and Cyril E. Albrecht, former vice president, re- placing Mrs. Florence L. Jackson as secretary. Mrs. Jackson was not a candidate for re-election. Voting on the delegates to the Fed- eration of Citizens' Associations was postponed until the next meeting. Expressing dissatisfaction with pres- ent mass transportation facilities In the area, the East Washington body voted to circulate a petition among residents asking that the Public Util- ities Commission require the Capital Transit Co. to operate a bus service from the terminus of the Pennsylvania avenue street car line to the District Timit.
