A—10 = RUMANIANS RALLY T0 JOININ PROTEST Removal of Mme. Lupescu as Political Power Is Party Demand. By the Associated Press. BUCHAREST, Rumania, September 11.—Rumania’s National Peasant Party leaders rallied their followers today for an advance on the capital in & drive to remove Mme. Magda Lupescu, friend of King Carol, as a power behind the throne. Some of the more optimistic peasant leaders predicted that 200,000 persons would join in the “farmers’ march on the capital” some time next month. The immediate object of the drive, said one participant in a secret con- | ference of the peasant leaders, was | to force the resignation of Premier | George Tatarescu's government. With the peasant regime in power, | he said, the next step would be to ease out Mme. Lupescu, red-haired daughter of 2 Rumanian industrialist. With her Carol once left the country after renouncing his rights to the throne. The party chiefs decided to or- ganize their march as a graphic dem- onstration of what they called dis- satisfaction of rural areas with the| trend of affairs at Bucharest. “Our farmers will come to town afoot, in trucks and in ox carts, and they will camp in Bucharest until the present government resigns,” said | one party leader. The leaders decided to throw their support to former Premier Julius| Maniu, who has long been an out-| | spoken opponent of the “Lupescu in- | fluence.” They said alleged irregular dealing | | in foreign exchange by some officials | of the National Bank was the last| straw which induced some of the party members to vote for a farmers’ anti-Lupescu demonstration. i THE WEATHER | District of Columbia—Fair and glightly warmer tonight and tomor- row; light variable winds, becoming gentle southerly.
