By the Associated Press. NEW YORK, September 6.—Corpo- rate bonds of both prime and semi- speculative rating moved forward to- day under brisk buying. U. S. Gov- ernments failed to follow the upward trend. And at the close Treasury, Fedcral Farm Mortgage and Home Owners Loan Corp. obligations were down 1-32nd to 5-32nds of a point. Railroad liens enjoyed an active in- | vestment following, although there was some shading of gains in the sec- ondary list near the close. The carrier loans were given added popularity by reason of a sharp ad- vance in related equities, but high- yield issues of other groups also received a good share of attention. | United States Governments had a steady undertone despite a few minor losses, mainly in the guaranteed | groups. The largest gains in the rail divi- sions were made by New York Central 5s, up 2!, at 77; Southern Railway 4s, up 1% at 40%;: Erie 5s, up 1% at| 70%;, and Baltimore & Ohio 41%s, up | 1 at 60 Obligations of Nickel Plate, St. Paul, | Bcuthern Pacific, Union Pacific and a number of otner carriers improved | from 13 to % of a point. By the Associated Press. Reversing the recent rapid climb which has carried member reserves to record figures, a drop of $118,000,000 in member bank reserve balances was shown today in the weekly condition statement of the Federal Reserve banks. ‘The decrease was attributed largely to a substantial gain in money in cir- culation over the Labor day week end and a transfer of funds to the Treas- ury. Money in circulation jumped $77,000,000. The Federal Reserve Board calcu- lated member reserves in excess of legal requirements declined $110,000,000 to approximatly $2,670,000,000.
