Casey, assumed the Lench in the District of Columbia branch today. Judge Casey's first case was that of George Levi, who was arrested in an alley off Sixteenth street on a charge of intoxication. His record being good, Levi was fined $10. In the case of Arthur Pearson also wccused of being drunk, however, the court decided he had been appearing much too frequently and sentenced him to pay a fine of $100 or serve ¢5 days in jail Policeman C. L. [fiayden said Pearson had been ar- yested on similar charges more ihan . B0 times since 1922. A 30-day sentence was imposed on Vames Gregory, alias William Saund- ers, alias Eziel Horton, when 1t was gestified by two elderly men that Gregory habitually attempts pan- handling and then abuses those who vefuse his alms. The straight jail sentence was for intoxication. An additional sentence of $10 or 10 days was added for disorderly conduct. THE EVENING STAR, WASHINGTON, D. P(?lice Court Judge Sworn In Walter J. PROTEST NOT FILED ON WALES ARTICLES | References All Torn Out of Magazines Sent to England. By the Associated Press. State Department officials said to- day they had no information of any impending protest from the British government because of Time Maga- zine's publication of articles concern- ing the Duke and Duchess of Kent and the Prince of Wales. The articles to which exception was taken were reported today by the London Chronicle to have been torn out of two recent issues of Time be- fore copies were distributed in Eng- land. The reference to the Prince of Wales concerned his visit to the Riviera. Observers here pointed out that should the British make any repre- sentations, they would naturally fall into the same category as the recent protest from the Japanese Govern- ment because of Vanity Fair'’s publi- cation of a cartoon of the emperor, considered objectionable to the ruling family and people of Japan.
