10 BE BROADGAST| Networks to Carry Newsy Details of Expedition’s Arrival at Capital. miral Richard E. Byrd and members of his Antarctic ex- pedition, who are scheduled to arrive in Washington May 10. Columbia is the network which made it possible for the American radio sudience to follow in detail the progress of the expedition in the South Polar regions through a weekly short-wave rebroadeast. Admiral Byrd’s ships already carry Columbia equipment—the same used in more than 60 broadcasts from Little America.. This equipment will be used for a broadcast description of the arrival of the expedition in Wash- ington. - * % k% B. C. also is arranging a broad- * cast of Admiral Byrd’s arrivalin Washington. It will concentrate on the reception to be held in the Washington Navy Yard when Presi- dent Roosevelt receives Byrd and his officers on the deck of the Bear, & former revenue cutter. * k x % first broadcast from China has been scheduled by Columbia April 30. It will originate in Hong- kong and include nativé music ‘and an address by Charles L. Hoover, United States consul general.
