His 188 that tied the record held by Joe Pricci for four years was, incidentally, the big- gest string ever rolled by the Lucky Strike shooter, who in his time has marked up many sen- sational scores. After cutting through the head- pin on a spare in his last box, Campbell, instead of playing the wood, tried for another spare and missed. He missed l‘l.ln with his third shot. Campbell Spurns Minor Mark Has District League Record in Bag, Tries for “Monkey” Spare and City’s High Game. For another ‘odd slant on bowling, take a look at the 175 game rolled at Convention Hall by Bill Miller. Miller made the same number of marks as Camp- bell—seven, two spares and five strikes. Yet his game was 13 pins less and he collected more wood than Campbell. | The difference was that Camp- bell scored four strikes in a row while the King Pinner, after a double header, had a flat box only to throw in a triple-header in the next three frames.
