Charles Masse’s well-planned Bui- cide was successful, but it plunged the district of Niort, France, into dark- ness. Masse attached a long piece of wire to his left foot, fastened a garden fork to the other end, and threw the fork over a high-tension cable. He was electrocuted by a current of over 3,000 volts. To free the body with- out causing further casualties, electric current had to be cut off in the entire district.
