FALL RIVER, Mass, March 7.— Alyce Jane McHenry, 10-year-old Omaha, Nebr., girl, operated upon Monday at Truesdale Hospital to cor- rect her inverted stomach “appeared brighter today” and “has retained food for the past 24 hours.” A bulletin issued by Dr. George B. King and Dr. L. W. Hill said: “Temperature 100.2, pulse, 110, res- piration 20. Alyce slept more last night than during the previous day and appeared to be brighter today. She has retained food for past 24 hours. Same diet today, beef broth, cereal and orange juice.” Surgeons Less Tense. Surgeons attending Alyce Jane were not ready to say she was definitely re- covering from the delicate operation performed Monday, but they appeared less tense and more cheerful as con- tinued improvement was reported. Alyce Jane was not nearly so hesi- tant as the surgeons to talk of such things as recovery. “I am getting well; T am almost well now,” she exclaimed yesterday after drinking a glass of orange juice and finding it did not distress her stomach. She had been unable, for nine weeks prior to ner arrival at the Trues- dale Hospital, to partake of any nour~ ishment without acute pain. Mrs. Louella McHenry, the girl's mother, and Alyce Jane's aunt, Mrs. Loren Nelson, shared the child's faith. The next steps the surgeons will | take were uncert2in. X-rays prob- ably will be taken in two or three weeks. The deformed left lung will have to care for itself for the present. Physicians explained that since lit- tle is known about what air pressure the lung can stand, no attempt will be made to expand it artifically. INCORPORATED SHepherd 1644 - 1933 Ford Tudor.....
