Pruitt, who was elected at a special election held here recently, following the resignation of John R. Beall as mayor, was sworn into office by Brice Bowie, clerk of the Circuit Court, at a meeting of the Town Council last night. Arthur J. Bates was appointed to succeed Pruitt as councilman from the first ward.
