Mrs. Roosevelt attended Mrs. Law- rence Townsend’s morning musicale today at the Mayflower when the pro- gram was given by M. Le Roy and Ninon Vallin, French operatic and concert soprano. Accompanying Mrs. Roosevelt were Mrs. Henry Morgenthau, jr.; Mme. Saito, wife of the Ambassador of Japan, and Mrs. Joseph Robinson. Mrs. Roosevelt will be hostess to two separate groups of women today, the first tea from 4 until 5 o'clock will be for callers at the mansion during the season and from 5 until 6 o'clock the First Lady will receive women holding executive positions who were not in- cluded in the list last week. Mrs. Garner, wife of the Vice Presi- dent, presided at the first luncheon yesterday of the ladies of the Senate. ‘The luncheon was held in picnic fashion at the Senate Office Building and was attended by many of the new members of the senatorial group. Mrs. Hull was among the guests. Mrs. Roosevelt, who was expected, was unable to attend. Mme. Saito, wife of the Ambassador of Japan, entertained at luncheon to- day at the embassy in honor of Mme. }’e'fir, wife of the Minister of Switzer- and.
