As head of the Government agency which regulates the rails, Chairman Lee has been identified with studies made in the past few years in con- nection with the propesed supervision of other carriers in the interest of unified transportation, and it is ex- pected the address will touch on this also. Lee has been a member of the com- mission since 1930, and has served as chairman during the past year. OMAHA, Nebr.,, December 17.—A plunge over a 30-foot embankment near Millard, Nebr., vesterday failed to prevent the wedding of Robert Barkley, 20, and Miss Dorothy Mika, 21, of Lincoln. After the bride-to-be received treat- ment at a hospital for a possible leg fracture, and the prospective bridge- groom was attended for bruises and chest injuries, the couple limped to the home of a minister, where they were married, the bride wearing ban- dages, instead of gardenias. Barkley is a nephew of W. E. Bark- ley, president of the Joint Land Bank of Lincoln, in which the bridegroom is employed. —— YULE POEMS GO ON AIR Young Will Program Tomorrow. For the eleventh successive year, Rev. Francis C. Young of Chicago will broadcast his original Christmas poems Father Broadeast Father Young first broadcast his Christmas poems over KYW in Chi- cago in 1923. For the next five years this program remained as a Christ- mas feature on the KYW schedule. Then it was added to the N. B. C. net- work. Last year 5,000 radio listeners sent for copies of the poems. NEW CREDIT UNION SHOWS FAST GROWTH F. C. A. Employes’ Project Has 548 Members, With $7,800 Assets Now. A growth from 12 members and initial capital of $50 to 548 members and assets of $7,800 in the first six months of existence, was reported by the Farm Credit Administration Employes Credit Union. W. E. Allen, treasurer, said the local union is one of 13 such unions operating among F. C. A, employes throughout the country. It was or- ganized last May 1€ under the District of Columbia credit union act. The union, financed by stock sub- scriptions paid for in installments, now is saving at_the rate of about $1,500 a month. Up to November 30, it had made 178 loans totaling $9,900 and had collected interest totaling $132 plus $150 entrance fees, Allen said. Loans were made only to F. C. A, employes and the interest rate charged is 1 per cent per month. The loans have been used for such purposes as the refinancing and con- solidation of debts, hospital expenses, doctor bills, expense of moving fam- ilies to Washingtop, and for the pur- chase of necessities at a discount for cash, such as coal and furniture. —_— LIFE SAVINGS STOLEN Missouri Man Kidnaped, Robbed of $4,500. ST. JOSEPH, Mo, December 17 (#)—Phillip Horwitz, 60, retired shoe cobbler, was found wandering along a highway near here yesterday, suffer- ing, he managed to tell police, from injuries inflicted by three men who kidnaped, beat and robbed him of $4,500, his life savings.
