Cail Adams 2691-W: re GOL.W.A. BURNSIDE CLAIMED BY DEATH Former Military Attache in Mexico City Was Cited for Gallantry. Col. William A. Burnside, 61, re- tired United States Army officer and a former military attache in Mexico City, Mexico, died this morning in Walter Reed Hospital after a long ill- ness. He had been awarded the silver star for gallantry during the Boxer rebellion in China and was retired for disability in 1930. Col. Burnside was born in Alexan- dria, Ohio, and entered West Point Military Academy in 1892 and grad- uated four years later. He served with the 8th Army Corps during the Span- ish-American War and was a staff offi- cer with the 14th Infantry when Manila was captured. At the outset of the Boxer rebellion he was with the first contingent that arrived in Peiping, China, in July, 1800, and showed exceptional bravery in Yangtsun, China, in a battle there. After serving as military attache in Mexico City, his next post was with the 26th Infantry in France during the World War, where he was assistant chief of staff. He also served with the 39th and the 81st Divisions. Since his retirement he made his home in Washington. He is survived by his brother, F. R. Burnside, who lives in Alexandria, Ohio. Wilson, 85, a well-known Mason here and in New York State, died Friday of heart disease at the home of his son, Dr. Edward C. Wilson, 2723 Connecticut ave- nue. Mr. Wilson, formerly superin- tendent of mills in New York Mills, his birth- place, and Utica, N. Y, as well as in Indianapolis, Ind., had lived in Washington for the last 20 years. He was a past master of Orien- tal Lodge of Masonry at Utica, N. Y.; | past commander of his commandery and a member of Ziayara Temple. He was a member of Harmony Lodge, No. 17, F. A, A. M,, and Brightwood Com mandery, No. 6, K. T., here. O'Neill was returning to camp in a truck with a number of other men who had been attending a show in Kingstree. About 3 miles out of town another of the camp’s trucks struck it. Two men were said to have been in- jured. Military Academy, St. John's College and Catholic University, where he graduated in 1915 with a law degree. Before entering the veterans’ camp he practiced law here for inany years. He was a World War vefersen. His body was brought here by Harry Mullen of the Victory Post of the American Legion. He is survived by bis wife, Mrs. Lillian O'Neill, and two children, Catherine Anita, 15, and Thomas G. | O'Neill, jr., of 1311 Randolph street, and his mother, Mrs. Mary O'Neill of 3805 Thirteenth street. Tasciotti, 56, 40 G street southeast, who was fatally injured early yesterday morning by an automobile, from his home Wednes- day at 2 pm. Interment will follow in Congressional Cemetery. A native of Italy, Tasciotti has lived in Washington for 23 years, working as a shoemaker for several years.
