C—8 WRC T0 BROADCAST ARMY DAY FEATURE Féss and Hurley to Speak. Army Band to Play at Mayflower. A special Army day program, ar- ranged by the Military Order of the ‘World War and the George Washington Bicentennial Commission, will be broad- cast tonight at 10:38 o'clock by WRC ‘and.a network of other National Broad- casting Co. stations. Secretary of War Hurley and Senator Fess of Ohio will be the principal speak- | ers. Music will be furnished by the United States Army Band. The broad- cast will originate in the main ball room of the Mayflower Hotel. In the sports program at 10 o'clock Grantland Rice will interview De Wolfe Hopper, veteran actor. Hopper also will recite “Casey at the Bat,” the poem , he made famous many years ago. The musical portion of this program will be provided by James Melton, tenor, and Gustave Haenschen's Orchestra. Grace Moore to Sing. Grace Moore, soprano, assisted by the | Revelers’ Quartet, will present a vsrled‘ program at 9 o'clock. Miss Moore’s contributions include “Mah Lindy Lou,” “Les Filles de Cadiz” and “A Spirit Flower.” The Revelers will sing “I Only Love But Once” and “Big Bace Viol.” 2 A medley of “rain” songs will be fea- tured in the concert at 9:30 o'clock to be presented by Gladys Rice, soprano: Doug Stansbury, tenor, and Nathaniel Shilkret's Orchestra. The melody consists of excerpts from “April Showers,” “Rain on the Roof,” “Singing in the Rain,” *“A Garden in the Rain” and “Look for the Silver Lining.” Baroness d'Etreillis will be interviewed by Alice Lowe Miles during the Bath Club program tonight over WMAL and associated Columbia stations. “Why Women Want to Make Themselves Beautiful” is the subject of the inter- view. Features Old Melody. “Singin’ Sam” will feature an old- time melody, “Daughter of Rosie O'Grady,” in his program at 8:15 o'clock. He also will sing “Some Little Bird,” “My Lips Want Kisses” and “Romance.” Old and new melodies make up the program at 10:30 o'clock featuring Wel- come Lewis and Nat Brusiloff’s Orches- tra. Y, April 6.—Rose Coghlan, the toast of New York's the- atergoing public in the days when it rode in hansom cabs, is dead. In the quiet of St. Vincent's Retreat, where she had lived the last four years, she died on Saturday, a full decade after she retired from the stage, where she she walked across it. City Monday, but the world that had loved her through twoscore years and until a death certificate was filed yes- terday. She was 81 years old. A cerebral hemorrhage was given as the cause of her death. It was in the now demolished Lester Wallack Theater that Rose Coghlan at- tained heights of her American success. She first played there in 1871, soon after she came to the United States from her native England with thé Lydia Thompson troupe. - It was not, however, until she had returned to England to star in “The School for Scandal” and “East Lynne” and to support Joseph Jefferson in “Rip Van Winkle” that she stole the heart of Broadway. Before she first came to the United United she had risen to fame rapidly in England. Her last appearance was in David Belasco’s production of “Deburau.” She celebrated her 70th birthday at the Belasco Theater ' by playing “Mme. Rabouin” for the famous producer.
