Dr. Frank A. Hartman of the Uni- versity of Buffalo announced discovery that cortin, a secretion of the adrenal land, is “a remedy, but not a cure’ or Addison’s disease. Cortin increases Tesistance to fatigue. Addison’s disease usually is a sequel of tuberculosis, especially tuberculosis of the spine. It weakens the heart and may cause death through heart failure, Experiments on animals have shown that cortin is necessary for the health of body cells. KANSAS CITY, Kans, March 26. —Willlam Ash, 24, and Wallace Ash, 26, brothers and wolice characters, were found shot to death heside a burning motor car near the southwest edge of the city limits here last night. Each had been shot in the back of the head five times and police said there was evidence that they had been beaten. Kansas City detectives said the brothers had acted as police informers and had been arrested many times on charges ranging from highway robbery to violation of the Harrison narcotic act. The shoctings occurred shortly after Bert Haycock, a patrolman, had conferred with Willilam Ash concerning a case on which the officer was work- ing. The bodies were found by J. A. Grider, near whose home the double slaying took place. Regulated breeding has enabled the Pure Milk Association to produce an even flow of milk into Chicago the year around. Twenty thousand dairymen in Illinols, Indiana and Wisconsin within 100 miles of the city have learned to space additions to their herds at regu- lar intervals in order to maintain the same amount of milk production daily. On this same principle they have based a plan by which' producers will cut their daily quota of quarts and contribute 5 per cent of it to their smaller neighbors who_were hit by the economic depression.
