Senator and Mrs. Thomas D. Schall Wwill have with them for the holidays their son, Mr. Richard D. Schall, whois attending the University of Maryland. Kennedy of New York has taken an apartment at the Carlton, The Governor of Iows, Mr. John Hammill, is in Washington and is at the willard. ‘The Governor of Utah, Mr. George H. Dern, has arrived in Washington from his home in Salt Lake City and is at the Willard for a few days. Mrs. George Akerson, wife of the Secretary to the President, will be at home this afternoon in her home in Rock Creek Hills and will have with her Miss Adele Jahncke, debutante daugh- ter of the Assistant Secretary of the Navy, and Mrs. Ernest Lee Jahncke. ‘The Secretary to the President and Mrs. Walter H. Newton will have ®ith them for the holidays their son, Mid- shipman Walter H. Newton, jr. &nd his classmate, Midshipman Clinton of North Dakota. Miss Fern Schafer, who was the house guest of Mr. and Mrs. Newton for some time, has returned to her home in Minneapolis, to remain until Christmas, when she will return to the Capital. Mc- Kinley, of Illinois, she had much to do with official and diplomatic society, while her circle of friends among the residential element is a large one.
