C—6 RETIRED QFFIGERS GUESTS OF CITIZENS Brightwood Gives Reception for Police and Firemen of Long Service. A n in honor of officers of the Police and Fire Departments who recently retired after serving the Brightwood community for many years marked Priday night’s meeting of the Brightwood Citizens’ Association. They were Capt. J. D. Green, Engine Co. No. 32; Capt. O. C. Basford, Truck Co. No. 11, D. C. Fire Depariment, and Capt. ©. P. M. Lord. thirteenth police pre- einct, Metropolitan Police. All are members of the association and have taken an active part in civic affairs during their years of service. After lauding the records and meri- torious service of the two veteran fire- fighters, due to their work, particularly st the Knickerbocker Theater disaster. William McK. Clayton, en_ behalf of the association presented eath of them with an electric clock. Capt. Ldrd, who served his department for 35 years, never had a complaint made against him and was commended 13 times, was nted with a gold chain to go with watch presented to him by the members of his command on the oc- casion of his retirement.
