FINANCIAL. NEW YORK CURB MARKE CURB SHARES MOVE IN NARROW RANCE Sales Volume Falls Off as! List Shows Tendency to Sag. BY JOHN A. CRONE. ' @pecial Dispatch to The Btar. | NEW YORK, September 11.—Irregu- larity marked trading today on the Curb Exchange, which moved at a much slower pace than on Wednesday. | The usual leaders, Electric Bond & Bhare, moved within & narrow range,’ but most of the time was a trifie lower | than in the previous session. Ame:ican | Superpower, after opening lower on a | 5,000-share block, recovered and regis- | tered a slight gain, only to relapse quick- Iy. Cities Service was relatively inac- tive and a small fraction lower. ‘The higher-priced public utilities ex- perienced some of the widest swings in early dealings. Nevada-California Elec- tric opened up 3. Metropolitan Edison preferred started with a 5-point gain. These moves were in sharp contrast ‘with the higher-priced industrials. Slnl er Manufacturing, for instance, o] Fe down 8 points despite the declaration of an extra dividend of $2.50. A. O. Smith Cornoration got down 5 points on two sales. Meanwhile natural gas shares resumed some of their activity of the previous session. United Gas Corporation rapidly rallied from an early relapse. Memphis Natural Gas, American Nat- ural Gas and Duquesne Gas also pushed shead. Interest momentarily veered to the store shares, where Lane Bryan rose 1%. A small advance was made by American Department Stores, which to- day report net income of $80,063, after expenses and reserves for depreciation and amortization, for the first half of 1930, against a loss of $225,000 for the first eight months of 1929. Nordon Corporation, Ltd., common, which was admitted to the curb today, made its bow with a block of 1,000 shares at 1. The next sale was exe- cuted at 5 and the following at 1. Irving Air Chute, which has just re- ceived an order for 500 parachutes from the Jugoslavian government, sold at 1315, up a point. Fokker Aircraft moved slightly higher. Central States Electric convertible preferred was one of the first holding company preferreds to appear at rising quotations. Halving of the dividend rate on Darby Petroleum, bringing the quarterly common disbursement down to 25 cents, caused the stock to slide 1% points. General Baking Corponuon preferred proved the lenture of the food shares. After paying only the 75-cent quarterly dividend, or the same as three months 8go, when the cumulative $6 rate was temporarily halved to meet expansion expenditures, the stock advan to 40, up 3% points. A thin market, rather than corporate develpoments, caused Swflt International to drop 3% points. 'wport Co. and Dow Chemical ma\'ed forward as American Cyanamid B turned heavy. Mapes Consolidated was easier and National Rubber Ma- chinery was somewhat lower. CHICAGO DAIRY MARKET.
