Y., June 20— | The General Electric Co. yesterday of- | fered an unemployment insurance plan to its employes under which workers Jaid off would continue to receive up to $20 per week for as mucn as 10 weeks in any year. At the same time the company prom- fsed to stabllize its force by hiring new workers as slowly as possible when bus- iness is increasing and by keeping lay- offs at a minimum during dull periods through maintenance and similar work. Any General Electric plant may adopt the plan by a 60 per cent vote of the employes. Equal contributions would ‘be made hr‘the company and the work- ers. The latter would pay into a trust fund 1 per cent of their salaries for three years, but only if employed 50 per cent of the time.
