CAROLINE GURY DIES UNEXPECTEDLY National Theater Slperintendent Identified With Woman's Relief Corps Over 30 Years. Mrs. Caroline M. Gury, 72 years old, superintendent at the National Theater, ‘Wwhere she had supervision of employes, and long active in the Woman's Relief Corps, Grand Army of the Republic, |’ died at her apartment at 706 Eleventh | street yesterday afternoon. She had left the theater a short while before, com- plaining of being fll. Relatives expressed the belief she may have had a premonition of death, as she straightened out all her accounts before leaving the theater. She had been suffering with serious heart trouble for sometime. Mrs. Gury was past department presi- dent of the Woman's Rellef Corps, G. A. R., and had been actively iden fled with it for more than 30 ye: She was chairman of relief for the Phil Sheridan Corpn of the orgnnlntion Jont and was the only woman on the relief committee of the Grand Army of the Republic. Mrs. Gury also was & member of Lincoln Circle, Ladies of the G. A. R.; Daughters of 1812, Bethlehem chnpter of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Daughters of America. She also belonged to St. Paul's English Lutheran Church, Mrs. Gury had resided in this city for about 40 years. a son, Carl Gury of Orange, N. J.; two sisters, Mrs. Liszle March of Win- thester, Va., and Mrs. Ella Ebenheck | F. Poo: of Baltimore, and a brother, Tke Hoff- man of Charlottesville, Va. Funeral services were conducted at the home of her nephew, H. E. Griffith, 920 Longfellow street, this afternoon. Taylor, pastor, begin- ning at 2 o'clock. Mr. Rawlins was born in Lawrence- ville, Ga, and had lived at various places throughout the South until he came to Washington at the close of the war. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Nancy Rawlings; three children, Miss Harriett J. Rawlins of this city, Prank Rawlins of San Diego, Calif., and Edwin Rawlins of Los Angeles, and one brother, Richard, of Los Angeles.
