Intent on marrying his fa- ther’s secretary, he is banned from the father's establish- ment and forced on his own to make a living. Marion Wells. “deart Charmers” Next Week at Gayety. THE burlesque fans of the Gayety Theater are promised a rare treat next week, for da Wassau herself will appear =t-the Ninth street play- house, heading the cast of “Heart Charmers.” Bobby Nissen, Doris Bir- mingham, Hap Freyer and Charlie Goldie are some of the well known bur- lesquers who will be seen with her. Miss Wassau also has picked a chorus said to be well up at the top in the way of looks and ability. Denishawn Dancers At the National Tomorrow. UTH ST. DENIS who brings a group of the Denishawn Dancers to Wash- ington for their second program this season, tomorrow at 4:30 p.m. at the National Theater, under auspices of T. Arthur Smith, is said to hold the record for number of performances given in New York in the season just closing. In New York and immediate vicinity the dancer has presented 29 programs. Although the spund films and radio have aroused much agitation in con- cert and theatrical circles, the dance realm seems to have been unaffected. | this art being one that must be seen in the flesh to be best appreciated. Moreover, Miss St. Denis has been American trained and is a native of this country. G. W. U. Glee Club Next Tuesday Evening. 'HE George Washington University Men's Glee Club will appear in concert at the Mayflower Hotel next ‘Tuesday evening at 8 o'clock. The annual concert of the club is enticipated with especial interest this vear. as it will present the George Washington singers in their first full concert program since the club won the national inter€ollegiate gle® club award, | in March—a program which will be the most pretentious and best balanced ever | offered by the club. Lupe Velez, dynamic actress of the screen, will be its star, assisted by Jean Hersholt and John Holland. It is a tale of piratelike traders who seek to steal not only gold but ladies’ hearts. Anita is beset by a treacherous father, who wishes to marry her to a shrewd trader, but her true love for an American, romantic and bold, saves her from her fate. On the stage Benny Davis, popular singing composer, will head Capitol Theater (New York) revue, “Broadway Stars of the Future,” which features Bemis and Brown, dance maniacs; Ad- die Seamon, human top; the California Crooner; Jack Heller's little boy with a big voice; May Joyce, “sweetheart of syncopated song”; Thelma White, and Alfred Brewer, “world’s fastest Russian dancer.” The Hearst Metrotone News, short subjects, Charles Gaige at the |organ and the Palace Orchestra will complete the program. “The Czar of Broadway” At the Rialto Saturday.
