PURCELLVILLE, Va, March 22— “The number of teachers in Loudoun || County was reduced at a special meet- || 4ng of the county school board in the | school auditorium at Leesburg. Petitions were presented to the board ||} in favor of continuation of four-year high school work at Waterford, asking gor a new school building and two teacher at Mountville, opposing ‘the half-day school plan for Sycoline and Red Hill and opposing the transporta- tion of puplls from Paxson to Blue- ‘mmont. Red Hill and Sycoline, Clarke's Gap and Cool Spring, and Air- mont and Paxson each have a half day of school with one teacher for each 1 school, two years of high school shall | be taught at Middleburg, and that a nducuon in the number of teachers in | any school will not reduce the salary of any principal who shall be re-elected to ' the same position for 1930-31. Application will be made to the State ! Board of Education for a loan not in | excess of $9,000 from the literary fund for construction of the Round Hill Echool auditorium. Travel Allowance Changed. The travel allowance of the division | superintendent of schools will be changed from the lump sum of $400 to the basis of 8 cents per mile. LYNCHBURG, Va., March 22 —Plans are being made he Potomac-Ap- palachian Trail Club, of Washington, ‘with 80 members, to have a week’s out- ing at Apple Orchard camp, Bedford Country, June 22-28, H. M. Sears, su- pervisor of the Natural Bridge natural Torests, has been advised. The club will make the trip here by automobile and train and will hike from Bedford to Apple Orchard camp for & week’s stay. ‘The club is a chapter of the Appala- chian Trail Club.
