SOUCEK WINNER OF SPARTAN MEDAL Award by Oklahoma Commerce Chamber to Flyer Who Holds ‘World Altitude Seaplane Record. The Oklahoma State Chamber of Commerce has awarded the Spartan Medal to Lieut. Apollo Soucek, holder of the world altitude record for sea- planes, who now is on duty in the Navy Bureau of Aeronautics here, it has been announced by the Navy Department, Lieut. Soucek will fly to Tulsa, Okla., for the presentation of the medal on February 25. The Spartan Medal is awarded annually to the man from Oklahoma who has done the most dur- ing the year to further aviation. All of Lieut. Soucek’s altitude flights have been made over this city from the Anacostia Naval Air Station.
