SOCIETY. ‘Washington Society Folk In Quest of Recreation Throng Pleasure Resorts and Enjoy Outings and Motor Trips to of the Mr. and Mrs. Brice Claggett will close their house in Georgetown tomorrow and go to Maine, where they will be guests of Mrs. E. Lester Jones and her daughter, Miss Cecil Lester Jones, for several weeks. Mrs. Claggett was before her marriage Miss Sally McAdoo and is a daughter of former Secretary of the Treasury Mr. Willlam Gibbs McAdoo. Mr. and Mrs. B. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Crittenden Calhoun have gone to Atlantic City and staying at the Hotel Chelsea, at Mrs. C. W. Waring, daughter of Mrs. Calhoun, and her children are staying at Rossdhu during Mr. and Mrs. Cal- houn's absence and will be joined this week by Mr. Waring. On the return of Mr. and Mrs. Calhoun Mr. and Mrs. Waring and the latter's children will go to the mountains of North Carolina for the remainder of the season. Mr. J. Bartlett Richards, United States Trade Commissioner at Calcutta, India, who has been in Washington for some time, will sail from New York Sep- tember 8 on the S. S. Republic of the United States Line en route to his post. Dr. Charles M. Hammett has gone to Atlantic City to remain until the first of September. Dr. Hammett's sis- ters, Mrs. Thomas Nelson Conrad and Miss Hammett, remained in their home on Rhode Island avenue and will go to Atlantic City for a fortnight after the doctor’s return. ‘Mrs. Margaret B. Downing and her sister, Mrs. Joseph C. Noel, who, accom- panied by relatives from St. Louis, went abroad some months ago, will sail from Bremen on the Muencshen for New York Thursday and will come at once to Washington after landing. Mr. and Mrs. Claes Dickson-Hallen- creutz, who have been guests of the Governor of Maine and Mrs. Gardiner, also guests of Col. and Mrs. Henry G. Keyes at Cranbrook, Cape Elizabeth, Me., for several weeks, have returned to Washington. ‘Mr. George Amory Maddox has joined Mrs. Maddox and Miss Emily Stuart Maddox in their cottage at Cape May, and Mr. Amory Maddox will join_his family shortly after the first of Sep- tember. Leighty will close their apartment at the Wardman Park Hotel Thursday and will motor to New York, where they will join their son, Mr. Carl Leighty. They will go by boat from there to Aibany and will then motor to the Lake Placid Club, where they will pass about two weeks. They also will use their car to go to Canada, returning to their apartment at the hotel about the middle of September. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur B.
