Bpecial Dispatch t6 The Star. CAMP LETTS, Md., July 13.—Six- teen Washington boys encamped at this Summer resort, conducted by the boys' department of the Washington | Y. M. C. A, have qualified as official members of the American Red Oross lifesaving corps, it was announced to- day. Of this number 13 will recieve Red | Cross emblems as junior lifesavers and {three will be awarded certificat a senior lifesavers. The awards will be made by Vincent Gomes, examiner frqm national headquarters of the Red Cross, who is spending the week end in camp as guest of the staff. These boys have been taking daily instruction in lifesaving It members of the camp staff, who are already rated official instructors by the Red Cross. The instruction course includes practice in long-distance swimming, in rescue work and in first ald and resuscitation. The boys take turns in posing as “victim” and “res- cuer” in the tests. In Charge of Aquaties. Camp leaders are in charge of the aquatic activities. Several of the lead- ers have distinguished themselves in water sports and are members of the Red Cross lifesaving corps.
