WORLD PASSING “NEDDLNG AGE" Jewish Charities Director Says Fundamentals of Life Being “Monkeyed With.” | By the Associated Press. | SAN FRANCISCO, June 27.—The world is passing through a “meddling age” and the fundamentals of life are ! being “monkeyed with” continually, Dr. Samuel C. Kohs, executive director of the Federation of Jewish Charities, de- clared in an address here yesterday be- fore delegates to the fifty-sixth lnflllll conference of social work. Dr. spoke at a luncheon -mndea by dele-| gates from all over the world. Equipped with the latest dlsc«mrles( of science and medicine, the peace time of weifare speclalists invaded this city to discuss war on crime and dis- | ease and the other social ills of man- | kind. Here for the convention are doc- | tors, scientists, educators, hospital work- e7s, probation officers, police heads and ocher experts in social reform number- 4ng about 4.000. “The world, occupied by a curious manipulative humanity, is now passing th a meddling stage and the fundamentals of life are being continu- ‘monkeyed with,’” Kohs said. t 48 unfortunate, Dr. Kohs added, || that psychologists and psychiatrists cannot all agree on life’s fundamentals. He urged a broader view of human || living_and a tolerance of certain kinds of deviation which, he said, shouid be encouraged rather than thwarted. ‘Women in police work are better fitted, in most cases, to deal with erring children and certain types of girl crim- inals than are men, Mrs. Mina Van Winkle, president of the International Association of Policewomen, said in an address to members of that crgani- zation. “Trained social wm-km women of broad education and xympnt.hlce are mneeded iz our work,” she said. The evils of divorce and a novel means of combating them by the es- tablishment of classes in modern mar- riage, were discussed by the Rev. Charles N. Lathrop, president of the National Conference of Social Work of the Episcopal Church. Instruction in home economics, sex relations between man and wife, and control of temper and other subjects which have a bearing on family life, 1s looked forward to by Dr. Lathrop as an important step in the modifying of the divorce problem. fiom'cbolfl Flit is sure death to all flies, mosquitoes, roaches, ants, bedbugs and moths, but is absolutely harmless - to people.
