Lovejoy Spent Thcu- sands on Others, Wife Charges in Petition. Charles L. Lovejoy, 1440 Columbia oad, said to be worth §300,000, is named as defendant in a suit for an absolute divorce filed in the District Supreme Court by Mrs. Bessie E. Love- joy, who charges misconduct and names two co-respondents. ‘They were married at Baltimore Jan- uary 29, 1915. Mrs. Lovejoy tells the court that in June, 1925, she learned that her husband had spent $1,860 for a diamond bracelet for another woman and that on another occasion he gave the woman $1,000 in cash. In Novem- ber, 1924, she says, Lovejoy drew $19,000 from his bank and rented a home at St. Petersburg, Fla., where, she asserts, he lived with another woman. Following these discoveries she left him, Mrs. Lovejoy states, but returned to him on his promise to leave other women alone. His promise was not kept, the wife says, and last May Love- joy rented a house, where he lived with the secend co-respondent, according to the wife's complaint. Comer of Arlington, Va., driver of a Black & White taxicab, re- ported to police this morning that he was held up at the point of a pistol by three colored men. who hired his cab at North Capitol street and Massa~ chusetts avenue. They got nothing. Comer said that the men ordered to be driven to Second and P streets and later to Fifth and P streets, where the nnflnpfied hold-up occurred. COURT CHOOSES JURORS UNDER NEW METHOD Plan Adopted by Judge Schuldt Is Declared to Speed Up Precedure, A method previously untried in Police Court and comparatively new in Federal tribunals of qualifying jurors was instituted yesterday in the jury court of the lower branch by Judge Gus A. Schuldt, ‘Under the previous method counsel ‘were ,permitied to challenge jurors on every subject which might cause them be prejudiced. Under the new sys- tem the court interrogates the prospec- tive veniremen and if counsel wish to add other queries they must suggest them to the court. Judge Schuldt declared today that after introducing the system in several trials it was found to be successful and sl%ed materially in hastening court pro= cedure. rovision was Divorce Sought From Soldier.
