The American Chamber of Agricul- ture, wlhlch rhnm ?fien in :mme of or- tion for the past year, was il“!?n ed as a national organization at the agricultural congress of landlord farmers and business executors of the Southern, Southeastern and Southwest- | 7 ern States, held at Atlanta, Ga., last January. Temporary national organization headquarters until today were located in Atlanta, when the national organi- zation departments, including executive and editorial, were transferred to Wash- ington and are being established in the National Press Building, Atlanta re- maining headquarters for the South- eastern zone. ‘The American Chamber of Agricul- ture is the first chamber of agriculture ever established. The chamber will op- erate along lines similar to the usages of chambers of commerce, devoting its major activities to agricultural, farm- ing and farm life affairs. Briefly, the :eb]m" aims and purposes of the cham- T are: Each State will have its own unit, or State chamber, and have representation on the national board of directors. The seven regional zones are so located geo- graphically as to expedite chamber work in all States. A canvass is being completed of men eligible to membership upon the na- tional advisory council of the chamber, which will embrace representation from each of the regional zones. A conference of officers of the cham- ber will be held in Washington early this Summer. Among the officers elected at the launching of the chamber are Gov. Hardman ®f Georgia, vice president; S. ‘Odenheimer of Louisiana, planter, vice president; Gov. of Virginia, vice president; C. Chase, eral counsel.
