MAN HURT IN FALL. Attem?t to Escape Second Arrest Causes Injuries. In an effort to prevent being arrested a second time within three weeks as an alleged fugitive from pustice from Durham, N. C., Major Thomas Jones, colored, 23, dropped from a third story window ‘at 911 S street about 2:30 o’'clock yesterday morning, break- ing his left leg and dislocating his knee- cap. A $5 bill, it was said, was iven to Mrs. Saunders for the quart of liquor, and McCarron then revealed his identity. Mrs. Saunders attempted to destroy the marked bill by swallowing it, but the officer seized her before she suc- ceeded, he said.
