BY WIFE'S ESCORT Police Seek Paperhanger in . Shooting of Glen Echo, Md., Man. " While a husband lies in Georgetown University Hospital in a serious condi- tion from four gunshot wounds in- flicted by a man who last night escort- § ed his wife home, police of Maryland and the District of Columbia are today searching for Ralph Cappy, a pap: hanger of Washington and Pittsburg believed to be responsible for the shoof ing. The husband, Henry Collins, 35 years old, was shot in front of his Conduit road home, near Glen Echo, Md., about 9 o'clock last night, a few minutes after his wife, Mrs. May Collins, had alighted from an automobile said to have been driven by Cap HENRY COLLINS. —Star_Staff Photo. Dy. Alfred Frizzell, brother of Mrs. Col- lins, who also lives at Glen Echo, wu- nessed the shooting and rushed the i jured man to the hospital, where lt was found he had been shot in the right leg, .the right hand, the right fore- arm and the abdomen. Dr. A. J. Gan- non, surgeon of the hospital staff, as- sisted by Dr. W. F. Burke, performed an operation, but no bullets were re- moved. This morning it was said Col- was much improved, but still in a serious condition. Montgomery County police say that Cappy, Collins and Mrs. Collins have been friends for some time, but a few weeks ago quarreled over Cappy's al- feged attentions to the wife. According to police, Cappy took Mrs. Collins home in his automobile last night and was met by her husband at the door. After a few heated words, Cappy returned to his car and started to drive away. Collins, police say, followed, and threw a stone at the car. Cappy alight- kd, they said, firing the shots that felled Collins. The man then jumped back into his car and drove away. After taking his brother-in-law to the ital, Frizzell assisted Policeman K. H. Davis of the Seventh precinct and Montgomery County Policeman James Oldfield in plecing together an ac- vount of the affray.
