Home owners no longer put up with houses that are chilly and draughty in winter {in spite of big fuel bills} and hot and stuffy during the summer. They don’t have to! Modern homes are built with Celotex Insulating Lumber, at Rro extra building cost. Celotex Stops Heat Waste Tests show that one-third of the heat gen- erated to warm the old-style, un-insulated house is wasted. It passes right through the walls and roof—just as radio waves do. But Celotex Insulating Lumber stops heat. It keeps warm, cheerful coziness indoors when January’s icy wind roars outside. And it means cooler, more restful rooms during the blistering days and sweltering nights of midsummer. Other Celotex Benefits Celotex homes are more healthful. There is less danger to children from draughts and cold floors when Celotex is used. Because Celotex is an effective sound-deadener, a restful, nerve-relaxing quiet will pervade this Celotex home of yours. Why Celotex Comfort Costs No More You can have this Celotex comfort at no more than the cost of ordinary construction, because Celotex replaces five other materials. 1. It replaces wood lumber as sheathing, giv- ing greater structural strength. 2. Plaster is applied directly to the surface of Celotex, forming a stronger wall than lath and plas- ter. 3. It replaces building paper, giving better protection against wind and moisture. 4. It replaces deadening felt, giving a restful quiet. And, 5, wherever used in construc- tion, Celotex replaces any extra insulating material. with Celotex Insulating Lumber Celotex is the only heat-stopping material that adds real structural strength; lengthens the Jifé of the building. Ask Your Architect, Contractor or Lumber Dealer * Ask about Celotex before you build or buy a home. Celotex insulation will increase the future sales value of any house in which it is used. If you are going to build, use Celotex. It is available everywhere. Your architect, con- tractor, or lumber dealer will explain its uses fully—ask them to tell you about Celotex. If you are going to buy a completed home, insist upon one built with Celotes Valuable New Building Book Sent FREE Send coupon below for our free building book, fully illustrated in color. QUESTION SORLIE'S RIGHT T0 APPOINT Politi;:ians Puzzled on Action to Pick Successor to Senator Ladd. By the Associated Press. Uncertainty as to the plans of Gov Sorlie of North Dakota ‘for filling the lure to call a sing much sp tion in political circles here as to his authority to appoint a successor to the late Sen- ator Ladd. The action taken by the Senate upon the appointment of ¥rank P. the Governor of Alabama is dec to be a precedent. The constituti and laws of Alabama at that time are said to have been the same as the of North Dakota at present, far as the power of the Governor to appoint is concerned. Appointed by Gov. O'Neil to fill a vacancy caused by the death of Sena tor Johnston, Mr. Glass was rejected by a Democratic Senate by a majority of four, on the ground that the gov- ernor had. no_authority to appoint. The record of th ate debate shows that Alubama, th Dakota, had not at that time passed a law dealing directl, with Lhy constitutional amendment for the election of Sena tors by the people, but that there was in Alabama, as there now is in North Dakota, W giv the governor authority to fill vac in_ State offices by appointmeat, States Senator not being mentioned In the Glass case the Senate held that under such circumstances the vacancy must be filled by a special election.
